After coming off the layby, you can drive along the river, take a left and follow the bumpy road about 100m, there's a thin road about 10m long which leads to a small quiet spot. do-able in any size vehicle but may get scratches. More feasible in a small vehicle. There are probably more spots further along, but didn't check.
