Right at Bodø Feriekai you can wait for the ferry (if you haven't made a reservation, make sure to do so by the end of May at the latest) to Lofoten. Port officials confirmed that we are allowed to stay in the first row of the non-reserved lane, were there on May 28th with about 8 other vehicles, many others did not make it onto the ferry as 60% are reserved and the winter timetable with about one ferry per day never fills the required capacity (see 2nd photo at ferry departure). By the way, the ferry is free for pedestrians if you want to cross without a vehicle. You can reserve online for 20 euros per trip to ensure your trip, but you can also just walk to the quay and if the ferry isn't full you'll get on it. We were annoyed because we thought the reservation was the ticket.
