Although this is a car park just off the main road it is located between trees and the start of the trail to Hellvelyn (which I would recommend doing) which made for a nice quiet evening. There is also a river running adjacent to the car park and a short 2 minute walk up the hill there’s a nice ice bath spot for a freshen up in the AM. For day use you usually have to pay, however thanks to Storm Desmond the ticket machine is out of order for the foreseeable future. There is also some public toilets that where available for use all night (no light, so take a torch). Enjoy!
