Coming from Skftafell, turn on a track to the left just after a bridge. Nothing is indicated. At the end of a very passable track you will find a small car park with a sign. It seems like a trekking start on the glacier as we came across a 4x4 arctic adventure car that was leaving. As a waking bonus, walk along the path from the left of the car park to the foot of the glacier.
