Camping RMK Kaleste

RMK kaleste camping area. You have arrived at the Kaleste camping area in Hiiumaa! This is one of the nicest places with a sandy beach on the Kõpu peninsula. You will find prepared camping and campfire sites as well as sheltered tables and benches under the pine trees on the shore. A larger shelter will protect you from the rain scorching sun. There are sandy beaches with a gently sloping sea bottom found right and left from the stony landing place. As the camping area is located in the Kõpu Nature Reserve, please keep in mind that restric- tions applied for the protection of fragile coastal communi- ties. The study trail beginning from the camping area pro- vides a good opportunity to get to know the diverse nature of the island. The study trail runs along the wooded sand dunes by Kaleste bay and is peppered with various forest landscapes and coastal biological communities. The trail begins and ends at camping site and is marked with coloured stripes and wooden signposts. It takes 30-50 minutes to walk the 1.8 km trail. Seven information points on the trail introduce the animals, biological forest communities, and coastal plants found here. The trail can be walked in any without getting your feet wet.
