Kawhia Camping Ground A camping ground to relax in. Beware Kawhia's laid back ambiance is easy to get caught up in. Kawhia Camping Ground is a quiet holiday park that is in a sheltered position. A short walk along the Pohutukawa lined coast to town and around the corner from the harbour and boat ramp. Ocean Beach, where the Te Puia Hot Springs seep through the black sands, is just up the road. Free shovels are provided to guests for digging your own hot pool right on the edge of a rugged but scenic west coast beach. We have 14 larger Power Sites and 4 Standard Cabins available that sleep up to 6. Facilities on site include laundry, clothes dryer, fridges and freezers, microwave, oven and plenty of hot plates. The ablution block has free showers, toilets, and accessible facilities for wheelchairs and babies.
