Roadside parking with a magnificent view onto Nikosia and the huge Northern Cyprus flag that is painted on the side of the mountain. At night the shape of the flag is lit. It is not possible to get closer to the flag, as it is a military site closed to the public. There is an animal sanctuary that is not open to the public. We met someone working there and he was very welcoming. The road leads to the Taşkent picnic site. Until here the road is good (although narrow). If you continue to the picnic site, there is a short section that requires high clearance, afterwards the road is good again. The picnic site is free and has toilets and water, but it closes at night. We were offered to stay there overnight, but regretted it a bit because here the view is much nicer. In summer when its hot, the picnic site might be nicer because there is shade, and it seems like a nice hiking area. There is also an abandoned monastery that is interesting to see. The road from here to Buffavento Castle is closed to motor vehicles, but you can hike there.
