Stopover Review There is additional parking over the bridge, however it has a 3-ton weight limit, which makes it unsuitable for heavier vehicles despite others occasionally crossing. Access from the opposite side is also restricted by height barriers (approx. 1.8m) through the tunnels, so larger vans and motorhomes won’t get through that way. On this side of the bridge, there is space for around three motorhomes, although the ground is slightly uneven in places. The only practical access for heavier vehicles is via Winsford, passing the salt mines. ? Setting & Atmosphere It’s a beautiful spot, especially in the morning — waking up to water, swans, and nearby countryside walks is a big plus. That said, it can be busy, particularly: Early morning Throughout the day Occasionally late into the evening There’s no real hassle from people, but the foot traffic does take away from the feeling of seclusion. ⚠️ Things to be aware of Occasional noise at night, including small groups (e.g. lads on bikes) Police presence passing through at times Not entirely peaceful due to popularity Slightly mixed crowd — mostly fine, just not totally “off-grid” (Local stories of “bizarre events”… but so far, just dog walkers ?) ✅ Overall A convenient and generally safe stopover with: Nice views Good walking routes Easy access from the main road Not perfect due to busyness and occasional noise, but still a solid option. ⭐ Rating: 3.8 / 5 If I say much more, I’ll end up curtain twitching ? and apparently what you got to avoid is anyone seeing you do that and then flashing their headlights three times. So...swans, water, and no one knocking on the van door? That’s already better than half the UK ?
