Quinta Castanheira

Welcome to our self-sufficient Quinta Castanheira. On this beautiful, unspoiled piece of land, we cultivate a self-sufficient lifestyle. We live simply and close to nature, surrounded by peace, open spaces, and nature itself. Our planted edible forest grows slowly and patiently and will flourish in time. An idyllic spot by the river invites you to cool off or swim. Together with our children (6 and 9 years old), cats, and our dog, we create a place where you can truly be yourself. For warmer days, we provide shade and hammocks. There are swings and a small trampoline for the children. There is much to discover in the surrounding area, such as beautiful river beaches and the Olive Museum. Dogs are welcome on a leash. At our Quinta, we offer workshops, for example: • Herb walks • Outdoor yoga • Full moon rituals and bonfires in winter • Basket weaving and much more. You can book these activities upon arrival. We sell homemade organic products from our own land, such as jams, various herbs (including teas) and vegetables, syrups, tinctures, healing oil, kombucha, seeds, cuttings, and much more. Currently, our accommodation is primarily suitable for self-sufficient campers and caravans. Stays are offered in exchange for a donation or for your assistance with our projects. Long-term stays are possible by arrangement. You will receive our phone number upon arrival. Just give us a call; we'd be happy to come and see you. We have a few pitches for smaller motorhomes. Motorhomes longer than 7.5 m and weighing over 3500 kg may have difficulty driving back up the ramp. The road will be widened in the future to allow access for larger motorhomes.
