Locals told us that only the oceanfront parking is free. The rest of the parking lot is chargeable starting at 8 a.m. We stayed here one night. It's ideal for catching the ferry to Coupeville. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Nice to take a short walk through town. Even the state police stopped by and waved. We were standing there with other travelers. Cell reception was good.
