(740 51) Rethymno - Unnamed Road

Status 17.01.22: Last 5km of access road have not been cleared from snow. Impossible to pass with 2WD. Please remove this status after you have seen the road free from snow. Mygenou refuge parking. Located at 1500m it is an excellent starting point for the ascent of Mount Ida psirolitis, highest peak of Crete. The road to climb is paved easily passable. Perfect night with sheep. It takes 3 hours to climb very well marked. The departure of the road is taken in Livadia, north side of Psirolitis. We can empty in the toilets of the shelter which are very dubious cleanliness. The refuge is open but not guarded. It runs a little water but no certainty that it is drinkable.
