Dromkeen

Pick a pitch at Dromkeen and you may feel a little like you’ve stepped back in time – this site in the Macedon Ranges is part of a stately National Trust estate with gorgeous gardens centred around a historic homestead dating from around 1889. The peaceful rural atmosphere and sense of the past make this a fabulous place to spend a few days – pitches are large, grassy and shaded by trees, and you’ll be able to wander around the gardens at will, looking out for the resident alpacas and peacocks as you walk among a range of Australian native and European plants. There’s an air of history here too – some of the trees are more than 100 years old, according to the National Trust register.
