(LA5 0TP) Silverdale - 33 Shore Road

Silverdale Beach has had a ‘cart park’ for over 400 years. 1600s’ fishermen parked their carts to take away their catch, but these days there is an honesty box or QR code to pay £2 to the local guy who owns the land. Beware the tide comes in quickly and your access to the beach will be cut off every high tide. Check tide times or your vehicle may be under seawater. However if you pull on to the grassy bank at the back of the area (see photo) you can sit out the tide and drive off later. Friendly owner will talk about Morecambe Bay and it’s fascinating, history, geology and wildlife. Ospreys hover overhead in season and many birds identified at the nearby RSPB reserve. A glorious spot - quiet and beautiful.
