(4181) Tutira - Waikopiro Loop Track

This place is very beautiful and peaceful, between two lakes. It was a person who recommended the place to me. There is a subtlety: just after entering the park, it is a camping area managed by the DOC and free with dry toilets. 950m further, continuing along the lake, there is another camping area managed by the "council". This one is paying but larger. I parked two nights at the free area without any problem. There are no real spaces marked on the ground or signs indicating the instructions. However, this place is listed as a camping area on the DOC website. Presence of dry toilets. No drinking water. Picnic tables available. Some hiking trails nearby but most are closed at the moment (December 2024) and have been for several months due to natural damage to the trails. Swimming is possible except at certain times due to algae. The regional council website indicates daily whether swimming is possible
